Atsumaru and Copyright: What a Reader Guide Can and Cannot Provide
A practical explanation of why a manga reader and a manga archive are not the same thing.
A manga-reader application can provide an interface for accessing content without granting permission to reproduce or redistribute that content. Copyright generally remains with creators and rights holders unless a work is licensed otherwise.
Reader vs File Host
A reader can fetch or display content from sources. A file host stores and distributes copies. The legal and technical questions are different for each model.
What This Guide Does
This site explains the reader, its features, setup, and troubleshooting. It does not mirror chapter images, host scans, or provide unauthorized downloads.
What Readers Should Check
When a publisher or creator provides an authorized reading channel, use it where practical. If a source's rights status is unclear, do not assume that “free to view” means “free to redistribute.”
